Unclogging Drains Using Vinegar and Baking Soda

Using the conventional drain cleaner can be enough to give you migraines. You should not have to go through such a trauma due to the toxic fumes that can be gagging. You could turn to using baking soda and vinegar to get rid of pertinent drain clogging issues. Use a ¾ cup of the baking soda down your drain and follow it up with a ½ cup of white vinegar. Plug your drain and let it sit there for about 30 minutes. Rinse the drain with a full kettle of boiling water. Performing this great trick regularly will give you a clog-free drainage.

Using Coffee to Freshen the Refrigerator

Coffee is a common beverage taken in a majority of homes, but it can also be used to absorb the funky odors that could be present in your refrigerator. You need to look for a bag of stale ground coffee or one that is not good for brewing anymore. Place it inside the bowl and keep it inside the refrigerator for a whole day or thereabout. The coffee grounds will absorb the funky odors inside and leave it smelling fresh.

Using White Vinegar

White vinegar is widely used as an eco-friendly method of home cleaning. It is a weak acetic acid that can be used in various home cleaning aspects due to its strong antibacterial properties. It is great for cleaning various household areas like toilets, bathrooms, kitchen benches, streak-free windows and glass shower curtains. Once vinegar is diluted in water, it can be a great stain remover in a number of textiles. You can also combine it with a natural substance like lemon juice and use it to absorb bad odors.

Vinegar can also be used to make windows shine. You should fill a spray bottle with a mixture of vinegar and water in a 50/50 mixture. After spraying the mixture on the windows, use a cloth (microfiber) to wipe down the mirrors and windows to avoid streaking. This will work wonders on your mirrors too.

Keeping Tiles Sparkling Clean

Most bathroom tiles will have mold accumulating in the grout that is between them, which is unhealthy and unsightly. You do not have to use commercial home cleaning products full of harmful chemicals and toxins. You can easily remove the mold by mixing a part of carbonated water to another of white vinegar and then spray it over the moldy areas. The grime should come off easily. However, if this is not the case, you should add a further two parts of baking soda to the mix and create a thick paste. The thick paste should then sit on the grout containing the grime for about 15 minutes before you scrub it off.

All of the above are some great eco-friendly methods that you can use when cleaning your home. These tips will not only conserve the environment but also save you a lot of cash in the long run. It would be imperative to consider using the above home cleaning tips.
