4 Ways To Maintain a Clean Tiled Floor

Tiled floors are always a welcomed addition to any home. With varying designs and creative patterns, they bring out the personality of a house. What’s even better is that they are not as hard to clean as most people think they are.

Here are some tips to keep your tiled floors clean:

1. Wipe away spills without delay.

To avoid spending too much time scrubbing away spots, stains, and dirt, clean up spills right away. Don’t wait for the dirt or stain to dry up as this makes it harder to remove. Use an absorbent fabric or a wet/dry cordless vacuum to get rid of dirt on tile floors then proceed on wiping it with a wet towel. This should help avoid tiles getting sticky and become a breeding ground for bacteria.

2. Ask family members and visitors to take their shoes off.

During wet seasons, make sure your family members and visitors take their shoes off before stepping into your home. Ask everyone to take off their shoes to avoid mud trails on your tile floors.

3.  Sweep or vacuum your floor regularly.

Sweeping or vacuuming is one of the first things you should do when you want to remove dirt and small debris lying on the floor. It’s the easiest and fastest cleaning method available and it usually solves your problem when it comes to dry dirt. To keep your floor clean, you should keep a regular sweeping or vacuuming schedule. Depending on your schedule, you can do it every other day or three to four times a week. Use a broom, dust mop, or vacuum specifically designed for simple surfaces.

4. Use clean water when damp mopping.

Most tile floors usually don’t need to be cleaned with harmful chemicals. A wet mop soaked in hot water may be all it takes to get your floors really clean. Be sure to use clean water to soak your mop into when scrubbing. For built-up dirt, dropped raw meat, or other heavy oil-based substances, you may want to pair it up with your preferred cleaning agents such as ALDI Power Force, Pine O Cleen Disinfectant Floor Cleaner, and Strike Floor Cleaner to name a few.

Cleaning your floor regularly keeps you a step ahead in ensuring good health and avoiding the build-up of disease-causing bacterias. If your tiled floors are aging, it might also be time to replace them or apply a new layer of grout as these have a life expectancy of 5 to 15 years, depending on the foot traffic and dampness. Be sure to use the right cleaning tools and chemicals, and keep it fun by getting your family members involved.
